If you must stay at the area why not the Crowne plaza that shares all IC facilities but it's half the price?
I had a very different experience at InterContinental Dubai Festival City.
On both paid stay or on points (used as a day use for late flight), I was upgraded to suite and Club room, with club access.
Both of them were just perfect and I like very much the lounge as the pool area.
Very close to the superb Jameel Arts Centre, with excellent art exhibitions.

I enjoyed very much my stay at this property: very convienent location, very friendly staff, very good breakfast and nice rooms. The view from high floor was really great.

The superb Atelier Robuchon (gastronomic experience at a very abordable price considering the high quality of the food and experience) is only 15 minutes walk from the hotel.
