Easy? A properly trained agent can to it by rebooking and reissuing the ticket on AA. The internal finances behind this is another story. "Hi, I'm Sunny Disposition in Boise" with 2 days on the job answering the elite lines is not going to find this easy.
Easy or not, whether AS will do this is another story..
