I am trying to get a room at the PH Washington for Saturday night using an FFN. I was able to use one for Sunday night no problem. When I booked the award, the rate for Saturday was $294 and the rate for Sunday was $292.50. Now the rate for Saturday is down to $234 and the Sunday rated is unchanged. I figured that the lowering of the rate for Saturday would mean there's a good chance that FFN availability opened up, but the CS agent said there still wasn't any.

Now Saturday night is only marginally better for me than Sunday, so I'm not really worried about this, but I do find it strange that I was able to get an award for a more popular night but not for the less popular one.

Is it even worth calling back (I booked this yesterday) to see if availability opens up (read: Is there a good chance that the hotel will release more award rooms as the date gets closer)? Also, does being diamond have any bearing on FFN availability?
