Or more broadly, are we differentiating between what DL may have said to the passengers and what they said in the media? I don't really put a lot of weight on the former, while everyone was probably scrambling...
They did float this idea past us at one point, but it appears they have stepped back from it.
ETA: I can't find the proper post to quote, but I want to say that the idea of attempting to enter China without a visa or RP issued after 3/2020 is just plain stupid. Furthermore, if you have a 30 day visa, plan on using it by day 15.
