The header “how to cancel your flight” was not the first, second, or third place I looked to find that information even knowing that it was on that page somewhere. So maybe AS should revisit how they’re communicating this.
And, seriously, the only thing they say is that the booking can be "canceled online for no fee." It says nothing about what happens to the miles when you cancel, which is something that can vary from airline to airline (looking at you, AA). They could have said "miles used to book the ticket will be automatically redeposited and the redeposit fee will be waived" but they chose not to.
No wonder this question comes up so much.
