Are virgin points worth collecting as a UK resident?

I now live in the United Kingdom and finding good reward programmes. The Avios card here is an American Express one which is rubbish, as it is seldom accepted by retailers, therefore I'm looking for another one.

I've found out that Virgin Red is running a promotion that gives 2000 points welcome offer from converting Tesco Clubcard points (the rate is £1.5 -> 375 points), and it also sells train tickets at 3 points earned per £1. It also offers a credit card as well.

However, the only air route which is useful for me by Virgin Atlantic, and also accepts points, is the London - Hong Kong route. As a Hongkonger I expect I will take the route frequently when the prosperity of Hong Kong is restored, i.e. when the law and order in Hong Kong is restored to pre-2019, when we can travel without restrictions, but it's impractical for me to fly back because of the 21 days quarantine requirement which is kept extended. Unfortunately, points can't be used to redeem domestic routes between England and Scotland, and I'll never visit the USA in the future. I only travel in the cheapest cabin under nearly all circumstances, which generally means economy.

In such case, are Virgin points worth collecting in anticipation that Hong Kong can regain its prosperity, comparing to cashing out Tesco clubcard points as vouchers, collecting 2 Nectar points for £1 by buying my train tickets on GWR, and getting a cashback credit card?
