There is also a minimum rental age of 25, which is a deal-breaker for me (I'm okay with Avis thanks to our corporate contract, but we don't have one with Hertz).
So even if I was able to rent the car... US$167 per day is more than twice what I paid for a Chrysler Sebring in California (US$75/day) last autumn. Then again, other than the fact they both have four wheels and a retractable roof, there isn't much in common between a Sebring and a Z4.
The only bad part is that it would be an automatic

Ouch. The wife and I are going on our honeymoon later this month in Australia. We got a Jaguar X-Type (the Z4 would be nice, but might not fit our luggage in the trunk). 14 days, A$1600 all-in (US$1200 at current exchange rates). I'd probably pay US$1600+ for the same rental from O'Hare.
I was mulling over the 5-series as well, but that has a minimum age requirement of 30. (both of us are in the 25-30 bracket). Seriously, I can see a difference between 21 and 25...but 25 and 30? Come on...
