Echoing Samosa's remarks but in regards to a "regular room"...
Stayed just before the holiday rush. Was upgraded from resort (no view) to deluxe ocean view as Platinum. Rooms are a nice size and have great bathrooms--rainfall showers are amazing. Elite breakfast offered was continental (choice of pastries, fruit, juice, coffee/tea and bottled water) or a $20 upgrade to a buffet that had everything from omelets to carved roast beef and a number of Mexican specialties.
Resort is beautiful and was very calm on our stay. Food and drinks were excellent, but generally consistent with major US market (i.e., LA) prices. Tried every venue and was not disappointed. Especially enjoyed the sushi at the lobby bar. Cafe des Artistes was excellent as well. Staff is very friendly and dedicated. Resort was a bit sleepy (no "bar" atmosphere at any venues, as no bar seating was permitted due to COVID protocols, except the swim-up pool bar). Heard a single lively party going on one night during dinner and asked our server if it was the resort next door. Turned out to be a private event at the JW--the Christmas party for the Ritz-Carlton staff.
Covid testing for return to US was on-site, easy and a reasonable $18 per person. Recommend Uber for transport needs, especially for trip back to airport. Some resorts discourage it, but JW welcomes Uber pickups.
Would definitely return to Cabo area before other Mexican resorts and also to the JW in particular.
