Well Done BA, They appear to have done the right thing. As for the $500 difference that is tuff. The BA beds are flat so you will not get the sliding feeling that you do in an angled seat. I have never seen then old CW put on the SFO route (not saying it doesn’t happen, just never seen it).
Number 6 has pointed out the VS provide haircuts, onboard massages, manicures etc. These are available but apparently are by no means guaranteed and are like a lottery to get. You can read up on the VS board on that. Also he/she mentions a limo service, forget this as a factor as it is only available on full fare tickets so your consolidator fare will not qualify.

BA also has a very good arrivals lounge at LHR were you can shower and get a massage and breakfast. VS also offers this.

Tough call, but I would say the true flat bed and IMHO less gimmicky service makes $500 worth it.
