Why should we think this same spending would suddenly trigger elite-qualifying LP's for the 2022 plan if they didn't under the 2021 plan?
Basically every earning category will trigger LPs staring in January. Not just flight travel and the occasional credit card promotions (which is how EQMs and EQDs are currently calculated). That is why I asked if the RDMs earned via the bookAAhotels portal are LP qualifying. If one stays at a Marriott/IHG/Hyatt hotel after January 1st-- and chooses to earn AAdvantage miles versus hotel points-- those will count as LPs. Moreover, those are currently not counted in one's EQM and EQD earnings. Nor were they in the past.
