I want 4WD or AWD - both for the drive up and for driving around the roads in the birding area.
I have a full size SUV booked at Avis for $510 - my employer corporate rate - but I can get a Ford Edge or similar for about $350, through Costco and elsewhere. Question is will a Ford Edge have 4WD/AWD? In a standard or medium SUV e.g. Honda CRV, AWD is not guaranteed generally, but is it any different in a place like Minnesota in Feb? Because snow?
Very frustrating that nowhere renting cars, rental companies, Kayak, Expedia etc., have filters for choosing 4WD. You can filter for A/C and automatic transmission - I have never driven a rental car that DIDN'T have those - but not # of wheels driven
Thanks!
FYI…even renting a 4 WD or AWD does allow you to drive on unpaved roads.it’s still a violation of TOS.
