Close to the airport, OK in general

Introduction The main reason to book this room was because I was arriving rather late in the evening into BUD and departing the next day - for convenience reason to not have the still go all the way to the city centre for the one night, decided on this property. The price for 3 persons was reasonable with breakfast included into the price. Location This property is located within the airport grounds and therfore walkable from any of the terminal at BUD. However signage from the airport is quite bad especially when you leave the terminal building. In my case it did not help at all with the combination of thick fog and the construction around the terminal. After leaving the arrivals hall, outside all sigange for the hotel was close to non-existance. Asking the few airport staff outside lead to blank stares. Luckily after picking the right direction, there was another signage to the hotel - which was in the same direction towards the car rental centre. From Terminal B, it was about 10 mins walk to the front entrance of the property.Outside of this, there's really nothing around this property which if of interest. Check In I had already done an online check-in via the usual email which I received up to 2 days before my stay. Normally after this, check-in is normally smooth, however not sure the reason behind but this time, at check-in outside of just having a glace at the ID, they wanted to do all administration again. This was after waiting more than 10 mins because of the slow process (there was only 2 front desk associate). The whole check-in process took another 10 mins (including filling in forms if I remember correctly for Covid related matters). The associate doing the check-in was also not the most friendly person - no smile or any greetings. Room The room allocated was on the 1st floor - I had expected a spacious room - but this turned out to be the opposite. It was basically a very simple room (ala the usual Ibis) with a double and a single bed. Luckily we did not have too many large luggage as there was basically not sufficient room to place all bags (just 1 check-in bag and 1 cabin size) and it already filled up the room. I also found the room to be quite badly lit - even with all the lights on. The TV was on the smaller side - with the usual local and some international selection. There was NO tea/coffee making facilities available - which was unexpected as I remembered previous stays at Ibis Style hotels, these were available. This could however be due to the current pandamic. Clmate control was also quite limited - the room was actually quite warm - however it did not seem possible to lower the temperature and there was no off/on switch. Internet speed was the only item which was working as expected. The bathroom area was tiny - it was modern and seemed recently renovated, however it was just tiny. There was only a walk-in shower area - which was ok in size, but the watersplash protection screen was just too short - which means the floor will get rather wet after a shower. For bathroom amenities, it was only large pump bottles - both above the wash basin and in the shower area. In this case - the bottle in the shower area was empty (quite often these are never checked until someone complains) - which is quite irritating as I had to get out halfway to get some shower gel. Outside of that, the water temperature and pressure was good.Sleep quality was ok - without much exteriorand interior noise. (View of the room was not that great, it was towards the rooftop of the extended lower floor of the building). However it seems that the single bed mattras was way too thin and therefore not the most comforable sleep. All in all, for 1 night the room was ok. Dining Before going to bed, we did go down to the bar for a drink. The drink selection was good - and prices were reasonable for a hotel property (although this is Hungary, so outside, prices are even cheaper). I did notice that food was also served until late. Although strangely, one could not if on a prepaid rate, not charge the bill to the room. (I guess because they did not take a pre-authorization). As for breakfast - this was a buffet style concept.- the assortiment was not too bad with the usual mix of cold and hot items, but you could see that for some items, the quality was on the lower side. Overall Check-out was simple and I used the left luggage facility - without any issues. All in all, the stay was OK. I had actually expected more from an Ibis Style property, so I was slightly disspointed with the stay. The only unique item with this property was the interior design which was aviation based. From price point, the only reason that they could ask for prices close to the city property rates is because there's really not much other options around the airport. I would say that the price is slightly on the higher side for what you get in return. I will only return to this property as the last resort/option.
