Why is this a disgrace? The OP and familiy never fulfilled the requirements to enter India; that is not the fault of LH. And sometimes outstations like CDG or others fails to be updated on entry rules but that doesn't change the fact that it is entirely the responsibility of pax to fully comply with all travel requirements.

Sorry to add this but taking a 5 day tour to India in the current Covid-19 situation is plainly stupid and could easily go wrong (which it also did)
