I would call the first class hotline for France (+49 69 86 799 444) and describe what happened and ask them to refund the trip. The term to use is 'trip in vain' as you hit a snag with your 'health & visa' documentation eroute to your destination. Normally the airlines take you abck to your departure point and refund/rebook the ticket.
