AA.com states "When you check-in for your trip you'll be asked to confirm you've been free of COVID-19 symptoms for the past 10 days"
If I was exposed to someone within 10 days of flying I would definitely test at least a couple of days before I went. And, if that test was positive, I would stay home.
Of course, I have travel insurance coverage which includes cancellation coverage for COVID
