It might cost the airline less but it sure as heck does not cost the consumer less. Compare the AF and KL intra-European discount J prices and you will see that one pays a huge premium flying KL for the dubious pleasure of sampling one of the three "salads" that constitute the main stay of intra-European J on KL.
