This would be decidedly inconvenient for me personally, and as you say rather pointless. At the moment (18:20 here in Germany) the relevant RKI page is still showing the last update from 12:30 on 10th December, which if you click through to the relevant PDF shows the UK as 'high risk area' but not 'virus variant area'.
