Germany is expected to decide this afternoon whether to classify the UK as a "virus variant area", requiring all arrivals to quarantine for two weeks.
It's ridiculous and unfair, of course, as Omicron is undoubtedly spreading everywhere and the UK is being punished for its greater testing and sequencing, but it's proving very difficult to shake off the "plague island" reputation.
