I found out some odd bug with the award flight booking system and I have a feeling it is intentional, given the fact I see it happen for A330 flights specifically from EU destinations to the US. Basically the award flight point prices increased and they don't seem consistent
As you know a flight Europe to US or Asia should be 45K points in economy and 80K points in business (one-way)
➤ For flights to
Los Angeles - the booking engine is charging me 45K for economy tickets. This flight is operated with
A350 and the costs are as expected
➤ For flights to
New York - the booking engine is charging me 55K for economy tickets. This flight is operated with
A330. The costs are higher than they should be
➤ For flights to
Chicago - the booking engine is charging me 51K for economy tickets. This flight is operated with
A330. Once again, the costs are higher than they should be
I would not be surprised if they are going to implement variable costs for award flights, starting with A330 flights that will feature the new Premium Economy cabin. Maybe they'll start with US flights first. The ''bug'' of award flight prices may appear due to the unusual routing and gave us a glimpse of what we can expect. I would not be surprised if the point charges are going to be:
Economy: 50K-60K one-way (100K-120K return)
Premium Economy: 70-80K one-way (140K-160K return)
Business: 100K-110K one-way (220K-220K return)
Of course it can also just be....... a bug. So this is just me speculating.
