That is a very useful link to have - thank you so much.

However, what does one do when
  1. A hotel, refuses to accept the Check Certificate (in writing, in response to my prearrival enquiry) though it shows on the link as one that does - case in point is the Hyatt Place Schiphol Airport Amsterdam
  2. A hotel openly states, again in writing, that they include service fees in the exchange rate they use when converting the value
Does one have any recourse in such situations?

Also, since you have experience with these certificates, how can one use them to book prepaid rates where a credit card is usually charged immediately upon booking?
