Thank you, FrensicPic. I am familiar with multiple airline programs where status is generally for (at least) a full year. I was very surprised to find that Amtrak was granting status for only 2.5 months. I have not been able to find any information online about how long status was typically granted for in the past, and am grateful for whatever information the experts on this forum might be able to provide.
