Scheduled water outage

Just curious about how hotels usually take care of scheduled water outage.
Currently staying at a SLH which I booked through WOH. They emailed me day before checkin as they want to do a payment preauthorisation. However, they didn’t even drop a hint with regard to their 6 hours water outage. So they can tell you upon check in that there will be no water from 9am -3 pm the next day lightheartedly?
Plus, are hotels now back to 3days cancellation policy? Probably spoiled by BonVoy n WOH with suite upgrades n 4PM check out. Staying at a SLH is a complete new world to me
