In my three examples, a few years ago, I found out at the airport in every case. In the A3 situation, LHR became closed because of fog, A3 got me on a flight from LIS to IST (with Turkish) and my problem was solved. A3 was also good enough to give me the 4th sector I needed (aka LIS-LHR and then LHR-ATH-IST) because they were nice to me *G and ...
I suppose now with "smartphones" things are different. BUT it is a situation I will deal with when it happens. No matter who I book with, (TAP or another *A codeshare) if the LIS-YUL flight gets cancelled by TAP it is cancelled - and I still need to attend the wedding.
