However, I wonder how much luggage the OP would be taking on a work trip to ZA. If travelling in Club, his allowance is 3 bags, each up to 32 kg. So if he's only taking one bag, then it would seem that he still has a standard allowance for two more items without needing to ask for the child/infant provision to be applied?
