Can one check a stoller & carseat for free, even if the infant isn't flying?

In the happy news department: my wife and I are expecting our first child next year, and we are over the moon.

Where we live in Brazil, however, gear options for what we'll need to accommodate this newest member of our family aren't fantastic. COVID permitting, I'll be in South Africa for work next March - before the baby arrives - and there are some pretty fantastic strollers & car seats available there at comparatively reasonable prices. I'd like to plan on buying these two items there, and bringing them back with me - but given their bulk, before committing to that plan (and buying tickets on BA with the slightly more circuitous routing that implies), I'd want to be sure I can check these items as baggage.

I found on the BA website a policy that suggests as much: https://www.britishairways.com/en-us...travel/baggage

However - since the infant him/herself won't actually be with me on the trip, I'm not totally clear if the following provision will apply in my case:

In addition, you can also take up to two of the following items free of charge (as checked baggage):
  • fully-collapsible pushchair (stroller)
  • car or booster seat
  • travel cot
  • baby back carrier
FWIW - I'm a OneWorld Emerald, and will most probably be flying on a ClubWorld ticket.

It's an oddball question, I know. Thanks in advance for any tips on how I can manage this.
