Most Mexican beach towns are resorts catering to tourists who come for sun,beach, food, booze and partying...... so you have to search for authentic culture and experiences off the main strips. If you are looking for ancient sites mixed in with beaches look to the Yucatan. I think of Mexican culture as good food no one speaks English.
