Why not just demand that travelers tell immigration (on the way in) the date of scheduled departure, and if the passport is valid for THAT number of days, then entry is permitted?
Because, you could easily change your departure even if you had tickets to show the immigration agent (except of course many people are travelling on e-tickets ...). And even though you may be planning to stay only a few days, you will be granted the right to stay for the set period granted by the immigration officer.
