USA airlines and airports suck so incredibly much.
Oman is an easy country to fall in love with.
Oman is a truly beautiful country and indeed Oman Air is a really great airline on a good day. Unfortunately, they operate as a mini-QR in every sense, meaning the onboard service can sometimes be spectacular and the catering and hard product are both generally great, but if you encounter IRROPS or any situation that requires thinking outside the box you may find yourself in trouble. By way of example, I just received a refund finally this month for a flight that was cancelled by WY in March 2020 (not 2021)! You may also sometimes encounter the same 'robo-crew' issues as QR when the cabin crew are not Omani. MCT is a great airport and arguably easier to transit than the other Middle Eastern hubs given the more compact size whilst also being super modern.
Your last two points are difficult to argue with.
P.S. I think there are already several threads here on Oman Air if a moderator could merge.
