tommie was conceived by Thompson to be a micro-hotel version of Thompson - similar design aesthetic, but with small rooms and a brand positioning in the full-service, upscale class rather than the luxury level Thompson is in. With the acquisition of Thompson/tommie parent Two Roads by Hyatt, tommie as a standalone brand was killed off and the two properties planned for Los Angeles and Austin are to be rolled into the JdV by Hyatt portfolio of upscale and upper-upscale-level properties that are neighborhood-themed.
It seems that tommie Austin will open on January 5th, along with the Thompson. There looks to be some work to go, so I'm curious to see if they can get it all done within the next 3.5 weeks.
