I am having a flight tomorrow on a TK-issued UA award nonstop flight. I am thinking of doing an SDC to an earlier flight. But according to the discussion here I am not able to know whether I can confirm it before arriving at the airport, right? Are there anyway to avoid the wait at the airport if standby doesn't clear?
