Hi, I have a question about baggage. I am flying from San Francisco to Delhi on United. I am able to check 2 bags on United, but then I have an onward domestic flight with Air India to Surat on a separate ticket. They only allow one bag, and they tell me it would cost $137 for a second bag. You can try to have the UA agent at SFO interline the bags SFO-DEL-STV and hope AI just accepts the bag at DEL transfer desk or check-in without weighing.
Btw, AI domestic allowance is 25 kg (+ 20 kg extra for *G). They don't really care about pieces as long as total weight is below the limit. It's Rs 600 per extra kg over the limit.
