My bet is a WGA- fare with some more restrictions, reduced points earning, and lowest boarding priority. The leisure market is where the money is being spent right now with business travel not expected to fully recover to 2019 levels.
With inflation hitting wallets harder, higher cost of everything is going to push a family booking a vacation or going to visit relatives to make a key decision: fly or drive. Give them a lower cost option with more restrictions and they might choose to fly that 600-800 mile distance rather than drive 14 hours.
As previously mentioned, the legacies offering no change fees likely took a big share of WN’s business away. WN needs to at least match the Basic Economy level offering to try to win some back.
