Question regarding transiting through England with BA (and covid requirements)

Hi All, sorry for this long worded question related to 'transiting through England'...
I am supposed to be flying with BA, from CDG to LHR on the 26th of December. and then again with BA on a separate booking, on the 27th December from LHR to JFK. Connecting time is < 24 hr and I am planning to overnight at a hotel at or near LHR.
Looking at the 'rules', it seems that I do not need to either:
1/isolate during my transit
or 2/pay for and undergo a 'Day 2 PCR test' when in the UK.
However, as the transit is 'landside' and not 'airside' then I will have to complete a PLF, which is fine. (Hopefully, I got this right!). Since the 7th December they also have added the need to have a pre-departure test.
Here is my question:
The rules seem to indicate I must 'stay within [my] port of entry'. Can I go to a hotel in the vicinity (e.g. hotel on Bath Road)? If not, can I go to one of these hotels connected to LHR (Sofitel T5, Garden Inn T3...)? If not, does it mean I would be supposed to sleep in the terminal, landside?
Thanks so much !!
