Because of the distance, SYD is one of the most expensive segments in the network to operate. AFAIK it's never been a cheap destination.
Im just not seeing how anyone is going to AU before 2023 without crazy quarantine requirements. If you are going there to vacation, it actually needs to feel somewhat like a vaca, not a prison sentence ya know
