Great news. I hope this means no more AS flights out of D concourse. I had the misfortune of having to connect there a few weeks ago where my onward AS flight was departing out of D, and then had to go through security again (thus spending less time in the AS Lounge).
I doubt that this will have any impact on the use of D concourse. The end of D is used for customs and immigration for international flight arrivals which is how planes end up over there.
