Yes, and conversely once checked in you can ask the staff in the lounge to take a look at what is now available and move you. By that time the general configuration will be locked so if FLUB is there it is staying. Couple of times IME the "best" seats have reappeared, presumably because planned occupant has had to change their travel plans within an hour or two of departure, delayed connection, etc.
