Hyatt Robert von Dehn opened what was purportedly the world's first airport motel in 1953 at 5547 W. Century Blvd (four blocks east of this property), and named it... Hyatt House. In 1957, Jay Pritzker bought the hotel.

The building was last a Travelodge, and was recently torn down, along with the subdivision behind it, for a consolidated rental car facility.
