On my press trip a few weeks back we had two people in there group who were on the ground for only a few days – arrived into Singapore around 2pm Monday, flew out around 12.45am Thursday – and they were both able to have their Changi on-arrival test also serve as their pre-departure (before flying back to SYD) test, because the pre-departure test must be done with 72 hours (so they had a bit more than 12 hours to spare within that 72-hour 'window').

So that aspect is certainly do-able.

But as others here have noted, you must have some form of accommodation (with its own bathroom, by memory) booked where you can self-isolate until getting a negative result from your on-arrival Changi PCR test, so chilling at the SilverKris Lounge won't cut it. And after leaving the airport to get tested (the testing is done in a temporary facility just outside T3) I can't imagine you would be allowed back in for your flight even if you showed them a negative result from your pre-departure (SYD-SIN) flight.

I'd suggest that a day&night stopover at SIN would meet your needs, but if you just wanted the turnaround, then perhaps 9V-SKS can wait until sometime in 2022 when things have calmed down, restrictions are less stringent and you're able to do one of those 'just like the old days' turns.
Thanks for this. Good to hear someone who has done that. I think the plan would be to book a return next day, stay overnight nearby (somewhere that would be comfortable if the stay was a little longer!!). Key questions remaining are 1) is the temp facility open 24 hours as I would be arriving at around 21:20hrs and 2) how quickly are the Changi PCR on-arrival test results given as I would need the result before the 00:45hrs return just over 27 hours later?
