The OP's original question is about AA.
The OP is not asking about whether the operating carrier of the international leg was right or wrong.
The OP is arguing that since
AA issued boarding passes to him and let him fly the domestic leg, then it is
AA's responsibility to make him whole for his extra costs due to being denied boarding on the international flight (regardless if the partner airline was right or wrong).
It has already been answered that he is out of luck. AA agent may have made a mistake, but that does not make AA responsible for paying OP anything
