You both seem to be beating a "dead horse" here.
FACT: The majority of TSA staff is transient, low paid individuals with minimum experience of life, let alone airport security.
FACT: Each one I have spoken to dislikes the work, the hours and the conditions. Most are doing this for "something to do" until school opens or a "real job" can be found!
FACT: Discipline within the ranks is weak at best. Supervisors are few and far between and can never be found when a question of substance is asked.
FACT: While I understand the need for the TSA, I do not understand why they have to make it such an ordeal for those who travel. The job is a simple one, complicated by people who have nothing better to do than create work for themselves, for fear of falling asleep!
The entire TSA should be run with military precision and therefore run by the military. The reason for much of the animosity toward the TSA is because the people, who work there can in the majority of instances, barely speak English!
Is it too much to ask that these people take basic English?
Perhaps it is because of a "hire them all" policy that the service is in such disarray!
The TSA needs professional management by security professionals with (as previously mentioned) solid military backgrounds.

p.s. Before anyone gets "out of their armchair" on this. I have worked for the airline industry for over 35 years in Europe, the Middle and Far East, the US and now Canada. I speak from years of experience and have lived "first hand" security issues from the dawn of terrorism to today.
