Lounge gate keepers are not always the most knowledgeable.

Note the Admirals Club team was very nice. They simply said there are new rules for Alaska Lounge members, and unless you have a specific card type they can no longer grant access.
Since my membership doesn't renew until March, was taken aback that as of 1 December you had to have a newer card.
It would have been good to know the rules have changed.
