MANDARIN ORIENTAL BARCELONA

Upgrade :
from boulevard room to mandarin room (one category)
Last time I booked a garden room and they upgrade me to a boulevard room.
So they seem consistent with their one category upgrade.
The mandarin room are only facing the garden which are several ugly buildings, they have a large balcony but a small room with an odd lay out.
They showed me a boulevard room with a small balcony (only at the second floor) but this is noisy. The windows are not soundproof. ( what kind of windows we need when we have this large and busy street in front of you )

- early check in : yes 1 pm
- late check out : yes 3 pm The housekeeper did knock at the door at 2,50 pm.

- Breakfast : no buffet but you can order as much as you want from the menu. The food was good (not very good). The eggs were about warm (not hot) every day of my 3 NTS stay

- Euro 85 property credit : used at the SPA.
The SPA on Saturday mid day told me that they're full until Tuesday.
They end up finding availability Monday morning for the afternoon.
The therapist was wearing a mask but she did remove it at least once (I can feel her breath) and put it back when I open my eyes )

Few comments :
- the concierge is a joke : not able to book several restaurants which are available to everyone on their web site
- from time to time when you call the hotel, you have a recorded message saying something like we're all busy, please call us back later
- there is often no bellman so I had to carry my suitcase from the street to the hotel. Even inside the hotel nobody helped me so I had it with me during check in. Not a big deal but believe they have a labor issue. (But sometimes you have 3 bellman waiting outside for guests)
- no more desk / regular table until the junior suite category. There is only a coffee table.
- they don't restock your in room tea / coffee.
- Bed is a little hard for my taste. (not a FS bed)
- shower water pressure is good
- spa indoor pool is good and often empty ( the steam is nice but not very hot). Kids seems to be welcome at anytime. There is no set time for kids. (
- all staff were wearing their masks. People in Spain seems to be wearing masks much more than in France
- Don't book the hotel airport transfer, EURO 180 vs EURO 80 / 100 for blacklane (and a taxi is EURO 30)

Will I go back to the MO Barcelona ? I don't know. Definitely not the same level of service than pre Covid (and this is not true for all hotels). The location is nice
