I stayed for two nights and didn’t come back impressed. The actual hotel itself is 16 stories high with the remaining floors being for sale condos.

The lobby itself is kind of nice and it remains me of Kimpton hotel in Taipei with its color scheme. There is a large bar in the middle with divided check in counters to the rights. There are three restaurants: a breakfast and lunch buffet servicing western style food on the first floor, a Shanghai restaurant on the second floor, and a Japanese restaurant on the fifth floor with the novelty being a light show as you eat. Unfortunately, I didn’t try it as it wasn’t open as it was still being worked on. I did try the two former ones and left disappointed. Breakfast was buffet style but everything was merely warm as they didn’t have any Bunsen burner things on the bottom of the pots, rather relying on Le Cruset pots to maintain the warmth. Selection was also quite limited and the pancakes were a sad sight indeed. Not only that, if you wanted butter on your pancakes, there wasn’t an easy to way to select a slice from the butter bar out there. No syrup also, so I settled for honey. Lunch was in the same place but it was smokey and slow. Smokey is because it is an open kitchen with the main kitchen itself in the dining area and not separated by glass or anything for the customer experience. This causes smoke to go inside the dining room. Service was super slow also.

Dinner was on the second floor restaurant and I was again left disappointed. Only one guy to take orders and do other things. Food was lacking and expensive. The goose I ordered was dry. Service was again super slow. Atmosphere wise, it was very cold feeling as I was surrounded by blue glass panels on the ceiling and blue plates and everything so shiny. No natural tones to tone down the shininess.

The room itself was nicely appointed with Dyson hairdryers and Smeg water kettle. View out the harbor was a bit disappointing since my floor wasn’t high enough to experience the view. The room was cute and luxurious with super big and fluffy bathroom towels. Tea selection was good.

I would stay again if I got a good price, but I would eat elsewhere for meals.
