I wouldn't overthink this. It's not clear if you are looking at this from a UK or a USA perspective, but just get a lateral flow (often called antigen test) for free in the USA, either using your insurance, the Federal backstop for the non-insured or the not-for-profit testers, depending on which state you live in. You just need a piece of paper to satisfy check-in agents that you have had a test and you're negative.

If UK based then I imagine Testing for All, SimplyTestMe and many others will give you a kit to take with you - just send in the photo to get the test result.

If a PCR works for you then that's fine too, as is LAMP among others.
