Didnt realize breakfast credit was on $20. I guess that covers continental from grab and go? In the garden court it’s $32 for continental, $39 for full buffet, which is notably shy of prepandemic opulence (no smoked salmon for example).
Similarly, FHR allows $60 for two, doesn’t cover. Since they treated me so well on the suite (as they often go for regular stayers who are elites) , it’s not worth complaining. I just wish it would be known in advance.
Any other hotels go the $ credit route?
Interesting that they cheaped out on the breakfast BUT still gave you a suite nonetheless. Perhaps the breakfast benefit is not such a reliable heuristic for hotel elite benefit delivery after all…
The STR SF 5 mins walking away gives a great room service breakfast to elites. There is a dedicated elite menu that is pretty comprehensive and has many great options. They also are pretty generous with elite upgrades IME. I have returned a few times now and have gotten a suite every time (but still not the Metropolitan). It is probably pricier than the Palace these days but worth the premium if still within budget IMO. Could be nice to shake things up from the Palace.
