Just back from the Fairmont Chateau Whistler and my Diamond status got us nothing other than the dring vouchers. No late checkout, no room upgrade and not even the guaranteed nigh speed wifi but rather the standard version that's free for everyone. Not a huge surprise as Whistler does not seem to care about status even when the house is near empty. It's way better to book through Amex and their Fine Hotels and Resorts program which gets you a guaranteed late checkout and we pretty much always get a room upgrade. It's a but disappointing to see that Fairmont takes the Amex deal more seriously than their own rewards program.

PS: I should mention that we got a free bottle of water and a banana and apple in the room together with a generic printed welcome car.d
