I have done that many times in the past. If there is availability in the Business cabin, you can do a same-day upgrade and it’s usually the most affordable. Just ask about it when you check in or at the gate.

I don’t know if it’s still the case, but Air France used to send email offers a few days before departure with upgrade deals. I’ve gone for those a few times and they were usually a good deal.
