I'm also curious about this since I need to make a large charge in December and am trying to decide whether to put it on my Aviator Silver or another card.

Based on current experience I could see it working either way: currently miles don't post to your AA account until after your statement closes, but I have noticed that Aviator threshold EQM/EQD bonuses are back-dated to the day on which you made the charge that got you over the threshold.
