At least two people, myself being one of them, posted that they had contacted Bask Bank and been told no, the miles won't count. But as you point out, there has been no parallel statement from AA and nothing I see in the AA T&C excludes Bask Bank.
I've chosen to put my floating cash balances in Bask Bank because the alternatives for cash interest aren't that good, but it's only a low 5-figure amount. I'm waiting to see how my loyalty point balance shows once they start showing such things. If Bask Bank points count, I'll have the option of tracking my LP balance and if I need a reasonable boost a year-end, I can borrow against my HELOC. It's true that this will cost me around $0.035 per mile in interest expense, a very high CPM, but if I'm (say) LP's short, I would probably pay $35 to get over the top (and get 1K RDM's as an additional slight benefit).
