Expiring World of Hyatt Points

For those of you who have not stayed at a Hyatt since Covid, you have until the end of 2021 to register some kind of activity. If not, your account will be terminated.

I was in the same boat and called the World of Hyatt desk. I spoke with a very seasoned agent who told me that there are alternative ways to score an activity:

1.You can convert World of Hyatt points to an airline.

· AA, UA, DL

· 5,000 points = 1,250 miles

2. You can give World of Hyatt points to a Charity:

· Red Cross

· International Red Cross

· Hyatt Care Fund

· Minimum points required:1,000.

3. You can eat in a Hyatt restaurant, pay and get credit for your meal.

I chose option # 3 but it turned out to be an obstacle course. There are few Hyatts in the Miami area that are in this category. The Hyatt Regency Miami in downtown is one of the few in Miami which offers this program.
Before going, I spoke with Chef Tony in the restaurant and Mr. Matt, assistant manager of the hotel. Both agreed to assist. I asked Chef Tony to prepare a fish meal. I had previously eaten in the elegant restaurant and was expecting the same restaurant. Wrong. It is now the House of Mac and Cheese. Hotels, as we do, do what they can to survive.Chef Tony prepared a delicious meal of Mahi-mahi, crisp French fries, out-of-this-world asparagus and toasted French bread. I ate it all. Every morsel. I paid for the meal and Chef Tony agreed to give the receipt to Mr. Matt. In turn, Mr. Matt sent the bill to World of Hyatt. He did. I got credit for two more years. Mission accomplished.
Easy Peasy. 😊
